  1. One word: LAYERING.

because they still connected with the same Axis in

    What!?!

Why not do your dimensioning in two view ports in PAPER SPACE instead of
Model space that way each viewport can have independent dimensions form the
    others.

  4. Probably. I don't understand your comment about the axis, but what I suggest
is that you look into the command VPLAYER in your help file. You don't need
to turn the layers off, you just have to set one of the viewports to not
    show the dimensions' layer.

Well 25 years of experience has show that dimensioning in paper space is the
best way for what this guy wants.

    simple things please simple minds.

  7. I don't know how anyone can be sure of what the OP wants. Some of his
language is completely opaque to me, and I'm pretty familiar with AutoCAD
*and* English. I use both every day with some success.

Hi everyone, this has been a problem for me for sometimes but I has been
in lapse with AutoCAD for about 3 years till now so I am pondering of
how to have an independent dimensioning of the same drawing in a dual
Layout View without each of them interacting with each other? I like to
have the first Viewpoint as dimensionless Isometric and the second
Viewpoint's dimensions not to show up in the first, So how to make them
independent from each other? If I can do this then I wouldn't need to
print two paper. Any info thanks.

Hi Michael, I did that but if I shut off the layer of the first
Viewpoint's dimensioning Layer it will effect my dimensioning with the
second Viewpoint because they still connected with the same Axis in
orientation, so is there anything that I missed here?

Ok, I will try again in dual View Layout with Layering.

"Paper space for paper e.g. title blocks" NOT TRUE

In AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop the dimension are ONLY
available in paper-space along with title blocks etc.of course

ALL book recommended by Autodesk from the days of r12 onwards highly
recommend DIMENSIONS be in paper-space especially 3D and ISOMETRIC work and
more so when dimension multiple isometric views ports that are derived from
a 3D solid, something which you would have great difficulty doing in model
    space ????

You still have the layer control options in that the layer in each view port
can be manipulated in the same way as they can be in model space, if you use
    multiple view ports that is

Dimensioning in Paper-space and more so in view ports with there
independents also reduces the number of layers needed and therefore
confusion. Saves work & time and also produces smaller files, quicker print
times, clarity of view/s and ease of understanding

  14. I've never used it, but the approach has a conceptual clarity to it that is
    attractive.

  15. Hi Michael, I have learned a new monkey tricks, thanks for your info as
now i am shut off any lines of dimensioning in a multiple view in paper
    space.
