I have been trying to import an excel file into a DGN file but the
results have been subpar. When I bring it into a file with the 'paste
special' command and import with "linked microsoft excel file", then
the text is single character and badly spaced, no matter how much I
try to space the characters out. Linking it will get the numbers to
change if something changes in the excel file, but it looks like crap.
If I do a simple paste, I lose all the linework. Has something else
    been developed?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Check out:

Look for the link to surgery.ba. You will have to e-mail and Bear will
send you a copy. The app has a couple of other features as well as
    Excel import.

  3. However if you do want to stick to Excel then cut and paste one column at a
    time-
when you do I recommend you take a couple more rows than necessary which
    will
    allow for expansion.

Take to opportuntiy to keep your file names and paths very very simple
    because
you may want to use your new table of information as a template- long names
    are a
    pain to deal with.

I have only been able to get a Microstation file to update when Excel is
    actually
open, I could never get it to automatically open, also it give a new warning
when it comes across a link that it cannot update- you will have to warn
    other users about this-
confuses them terribly (the poor darlings!)
