Does cadence IC 6.1 work on RHEL 5 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)?

Currently I have IC 5.14 on RHEL 3. IT only supports RHEL 3 or 5, but
no version 4. Does anyone know if an upgrade is possible even though
    it's not officially supported?

    Thank you,

    Justin

  2. Hi Justin,

This was discussed (sort of) a little while ago:

    http://tinyurl.com/2fa47l

Officially, Cadence don't yet support RHEL5. However, I've been running IC61 and
IC5141 on RHEL5 for a few months with no problems. The only real problems I had
were with Assura (see further back in the comp.cad.cadence thread that the
tinyurl points to), and I've also had some problems with cdsdoc due to
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL being set internally (I just use cdnshelp instead from the
MMSIM62 stream and use that for the IC5141 or IC611 documentation - it's far
nicer than the old cdsdoc anyway!).

So the main issue is that the software is not tested on RHEL5, and there's no
patch information for RHEL5 as a result. It ought to work, but there's more
likelihood you may find some undocumented OS dependencies.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
