I cannot extract the layout

    Hi!

After I finished the layout of inverter, I wanted to extract it. The
techlib I used is ADS_TECH_LIB, and the cadence version is 4.4.2. When
I did extraction(leave switch names blank), it warned that "failed to
find Extract rules in library ADS_TECH_LIB", and I did not know why. I
built the library based on this techlib.

Thank you very much for help!

    Hi Renee,

The best for you is give a look at your log file and may be your PDK
documentation. My attempt is to fiddle with the switches or try to
load the rule file manually in case something not supported in your
CAD flow. I'm afraid there is no much that I can do for helping on
this since the first Cadence version I knew was 4.4.6. 4.4.2 sounds
very old for me and I don't even know which tools are used for LVS
    extraction in there.
Sorry for that :-[ and good luck anyway !

    Riad.

I extracted the layout with unselecting the Rule library, then I can
do the extraction. But the extracted view contained only extracted
divices, without the original layout. I do not know why this happened.

My guess is that you're using Diva (that has a "Rule Library" switch on the form).

Probably there are no copyGraphics() or saveInterconnect() statements in the
extract rule file - so you're not getting any of the graphics for the layout in
    the extracted view?

Anyway, as Riad said, 4.4.2 is _very_ old. It was released 10 years ago.

I used divaEXT.rul, and I cannot find copyGraphics() or
    saveInterconnect() statement there.

    Thank you very much!

I already fixed the last problem, but if I tried to show the extracted
devices' properties(width, lenght) on the extracted view, how can I do
that? Using layerText() statement? What if I don't have text layer in
    the divaEXT.rul file?

    Thank you very much!

If you have cdsParam() type labels on your symbols, this should happen without
you needing to do anything particularly special.
