I posted this message earlier, but didn't give any bites. I am up for any suggestions on what could solve my problem. Thank you for any advice.

I have a drawing in ACAD 14 (under XP) that won't print any of the vector parts of my image, some of which overlap a raster background, most that don't. Its as if I had only asked it to print the raster, there is no evidence of it printing anything else and the plotter head (HP DesignJet 750C Plus v 4.62 driver) doesn't even travel the true width of the image, only as far as the raster image goes. Are there particular ACAD dlls or something that could cause this?

This may sound stupid but have you checked the "draworder" as far as placing the vector image over the raster image? Or are you saying it's a plotting problem as far as the limits of what is being plotted

Ok, draworder is fine, the raster is sitting behind the vector. Either way, the raster only sits behind half of all of the vector, so it couldn't hide it anyway. I am in model space and the print preview looks perfectly fine. I can successfully print on another, new Lexmark regular sizeprinter. The HP doesn't appear to even attempt the print past the bounds of the raster image though. So, for example, if my vector covered all of a dollar, and my raster ran from the left side up to Washingtons head, the plotter is only going that far when it does its passes. Its not as though its going the full length and nothing is coming out. All vector graphics are failing to print.

    Thanks for the help.

Did it select one element and print that or a section with multiple elements?

I am not sure if I am printing through autocad or not. When I go to "Select a Device" it has "Default System Printer" hilighted and with that, it says the Manufacturer is "System Printer ADI 4.3 -By AutoDesk." and Port is "Hp Design Jet 750C+ (E/AO) by HP.

After some experimenting, it appears that it may indeed be the memory. I can print windows of the plot that contain both raster and vector, but when I print the entire raster, it just prints the image. Would I have to actually buy physical ram for the printer or is there a way to do it through windows? (Assuming this would be my problem.)

Have you tried the setting to hold the print job in the computer that is set from the windows system printer settings dialog boxes?

Go to the Start Up button in Windows to Printers and Settings.

Select Printers and install the HP 750 drivers in Windows.

Set this up as your default printer.

Configure it from Windows. Go to the ADVANCED tab at the top of the HP 750
    Properties dialog to Process
document: and set it "in computer" instead of "in printer".

Say OK to the Hint warning that comes up.

Now go back to AutoCAD and go to the FILES Menu and select PRINT.

    This opens the Print/Plot Configuration.

Under Default System Printer, select the Device and Default Selection
    button.

Go to the bottom to Device Requirements and select the CHANGE button.

This opens the Print Setup dialog, and under Printer: Name: scroll down to
your new Windows System Printer for the HP 750C that you just installed in
    Windows.

On the right of the Name, you can click on PROPERTIES and
go to the ADVANCED tab at the top of the HP 750 Properties dialog to Process
document: and set it "in computer" instead of "in printer".

Say OK to the Hint warning that comes up.

Say OK all the way out of the print dialogs and this will start a plot for
you. You have to plot in order to save all the above in AutoCAD R14.

Hope that will work for you.

You can download the latest HP 750 drivers from HP.

Morning, thanks for the help. I am still having trouble but
think I am on the right track.

Under my Advanced Tab, I am lacking those options....I have radio buttons for

-Spoor print documents so prgram finishes printing faster
-Start printing after last page is spooled
       -Start printing immediately
    -Print directly to the print

    And check boxes for

    -Hold mismatched documents
    -Print spooled documents first
    -Keep printed documents
    -Enable advanced printing features

I also have been getting reports in my queue that my plot
is 120 megs, which is entirely wrong, since the file itself
is 5 megs and the image is like 300k.

But I do definitely thing this is a memory problem.

Its working! I needed to install the HP drivers in order to access the computer memory option. Thanks everyone!

Yeah, 120 doesn't seem out of line.
