If you were to work part-time (20 hrs/week) in a company that would
not offer benefits, how much would you ask? I have 5+ years of
    experience with autocad.

    Thanks

Which discipline (i.e.., what kind of drafting or design work would you be
    doing?)?

  3. That's like asking "How much should I pay for a house?".

  5. That's not quite all:
    Location
    Local market conditions
Employment history, not just in years
    Education
    Certification
    Personal habits, grooming, hygiene, etc.

It's a naive question. You should:

1)Go to interviews, ask for $X.
2)If everybody says yes, it's too low. Set X=X+1, Go back to 1.
3)If nobody says yes, it's to high. Set X=X-1, Go back to 1.
4)If the job you really want says yes, you've found the number.

Not by a long shot. You don't mention your education or your location
in Florida or what industry you're in, but for simple drafting almost
anywhere in Florida $18/hour is a lot (IMO). If you were doing complex
mechanical design using a real MCAD system (not a drafting program), and
MANY years of experience but without an engineering degree, you might be
able to get $25/hour in most of Florida. Add an engineering degree and
experience in Pro/E in a state that isn't nearly as depressed as is
Florida and you might could make $40/hour.

  7. I'm gonna try the same thing in about 20 years ; )

BTW, I think there may be a missing parenthesis in
my earlier post somewhere....and beware: there's
    no error handler.
