HP1050c rotated or rotating plots

We have a HP 1050c+ plotter. It used to be that most of our plotting was
24x36 so those of us who plotted 30x42 sheets just had to trim our sheets.

Well, now most of our plotting is to 30x42 so we decided to buy 30" rolls.
Thing is, with the new plotter we can't get it to rotate the plots
automatically like it would with our 755cm!!! I went to the "printing
preferences" and checked the "Automatically rotate" from the Advanced tab,
but it still won't do it.

I went to the plotter and checked the paper settings and there is a place to
tell it to always rotate 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees, but no way for it to
    "automatically" rotate.

We tried recreating the PC3 file, but still no love!

We can change it to print portrait and it will work, but it won't stick.

    Any suggestions?

  2. Lila,

I think you missed the point of Dean's post. Go back to the "Plot Device"
Tab and click on "Custom Properties" and then press the CUSTOM PROPERTIES
button that appears in the action screen. This will open the Printer
Properties for the PC3 file. The first tab should be "Paper Size" make sure
that the "Roll Size" option is set to 30" and not 36".

Actually, I checked and my driver does not have a setting for 30" roll are
you sure that the 1050C supports 30" roll? I just checked the HP site and
it appears that the 1050 does not support a 30" roll width, the closest in
the specifications was a JIS B1 which is 728mm (28.6"). Are you trying to
print a Arch E1? The HP 800 that does a 42" roll can do this size without
trimming or you could use an Arch E on the 1050 (36x42). Good luck.

Is your orientation set to portrait?

  4. There is no way to add 30" to the list. HP has to add it to their driver.
What I have done is not pick a media size. You get a warning message that
you can ignore, and it seems to work correctly.
