HP PLOTTING PROBLEM

I have two HP 1050C's, networked. Over the past couple of days, it seems
large files are taking forever to spool and plot. I watched the spool, and
it spools 125k, waits about 5 seconds, and then spools 125k. Now, for
smaller plots, that's not much of a problem. However, when sending a 30mb
image (and yes, I've got more than enough memory in the plotters), this
becomes a multi-hour ordeal. Any ideas on how to speed up the spooling, or
what is causing the spooling to slow down?

We had a similar problem with hp 500 plotters, we found that if we load a local driver (as opposed to networked) linked via an IP address using the standard TC/PIP port setup that our prints changed from 25 minutes spooling to 5 minutes printing, though it makes print queue management a beast as you cant see the prints coming to the printer as everyone has their own print driver - this even works across the network between remote locations just as quick.
spooling via the print server was just too slow.
