What's the difference between these two printers? Printing an 11x17 on our
LJ5000 from CAD is slow enough to be frustrating. Our other office has a
LJ5100 that is lightning fast compared to our printer. Is the 5100 that
much faster, or should we have a more optimized driver for it to operate
    faster?

    Thanks,

i am thinking you might want to cross reference this with a quick google
    search...

i have found that google can be an extensive source of wide and varied
    information.

plus i think that the one that's faster just has a bigger number- so it must
    be better....

Don't know much about the LJ5000. But ... We have a Xerox 7300, which was
printing deathly slow for a while. Turned out to be a problem with the ip
address settings on the printer set up. You might want to check that
everything there is set up properly.

I have an LJ 5000 on a peer-peer network. It seems pretty fast to me. I
could check actual speed if you wanted to send me a test file. I have
Windows 2000 on one computer Windows XP on another using System printer and
    PCL 6.

We have both of these printers as well, with no difference in printing
speed. The 5100 is just a newer version of the 5000. The drivers can be
shared as well, I would check how you have them routed on the network.

Jason - for us it was the print drivers that caused the slowdowns. We
standardized all HP lasers to the PCL5e version of each driver (5si, 4000n
and 5000n) because the PCL6 versions printed differently to each printer.
Sometimes having the latest and greatest drivers causes more issues than it
    solves...

Our LaserJet 5000n driver is version 0.3.0.0 (HPBF241G.dll)
