  2. Hello,

    http://www.hp.com/go/designjet

Download the latest system driver and install it. AutoCAD will use the
system driver and it is optimized for AutoCAD.

    Happy Plotting.

  3. Hey bniemiec,

We are in the market for a new printer. How do you like the 500? We were
at a toss up between the 130nr and the 500. How did you choose?

    Thanks,
    Scott<-

Went through that process about 1 year ago. The 500 is a great plotter.
Excellent line work, great colours (on proper paper), and easy to use. No
regrets but then again, maybe we just got lucky.

  5. Thanks TeeDeck...

So what other plotter were you looking at besides the 500? Did you get the
    Network option with yours?

We were leaning towards the 130nr as its a bit better resolution and has
many features built in. Its slower then the rest, but seemed to be about the
    only drawback.

Though I would think that if all we are printing is more line drawings, I
don't see where the Higher Resolution will get you that much more...

    Thanks again for your input...

We got the 42" 500 with the HPGL2 Card and all the memory we could get
We are currently running it just thru the USB port (Not Networked)
It performs great...........Just 1 problem we have never been able to get
the color Blue to print correct............always comes out purple.
We`ve done as much as HP techs could do.......newest drivers and 2 of there
latest Beta Firmware. No help! All I can do is change the blue to a
    lighter shade
of blue.....and it gets pretty close........I`ve seen other posts about
    other colors not coming
    out correct, (Check HP Site)
We use it mostly for ACAD work so color is not a big issue, just wanted
    you to be
    aware of this..........
    Good luck !

We were looking at the 120 and the 800 series. No brainer when it came to
money so the 500 was chosen after carefully weighting all the options it
had. We're not networked at the moment (soon to change) and connected via
USB. Still no problems and like I said: great quality and ease of use. I'd
recommended it. Get more memory if you'll think you'll need it but with the
basic unit I've yet to run into any problems with drawings (some were 20
    megs)
