HP DesignJet 500 drivers

I mentioned in another thread a while back that a client of ours with a
DJ500 couldn't print from AutoCAD using the Windows drivers (Win2k default
or HP v5.32). No amount of unloading and reloading helped. Either nothing
would come out or a "memory error" would occur when it was selected. All
other Windows applications could print to it fine.

    On a whim I setup a DesignJet 750c Plus C4709B using the built-in AutoCAD
drivers. Of course it complained a bit about sharing the port with the
Windows driver, but it works. This was using AutoCAD 2000i and using a
DirectJet port (iow it was connected to the network and not a local port).

    Hope this helps someone else,
    Stef

Yes there is, since they didn't buy the mind control module [grin]. I
think it is a JetDirect software issue, but the client's hired IT company
    insists on using it.

    Enjoy,

We configure our printers to use TCP/IP ports and specify the JetDirect's
IP. Works like a champ. Dumped JetAdmin a LONG time ago - with WIN2k you do
    NOT need it.
