We just purchased a HP DesignJet 500 42 plotter. The HP DesignJet 650C (C2859A) that we just replaced had the ability to plot using a 36" x 144" paper size, but only plot the selected area, (via AutoCAD 2000 & 2004), there for not wasting paper. I have not been able to find a setting for the HP DesignJet 500 to keep it from printing the complete 144" length when less area is selected. Does anyone know if the HP DesignJet 500 has a setting to keep from wasting paper?

I believe that I found the answer. In my HP DesignJet 500 custom properties, Advanced Tab, select Inked Area.
