I am using AutoCAD R14, and have been looking for a way to:

-Define a point in a plane by specifying its distance from 2 known points and which of the line of the 2 points the unknown point is on?

    AND/OR

-Define a point in 3-space by its known distance from 3 points and which side of the plane of the 3 points the unknown point is on?

    Any information is appreciated...

If you have two separate lines: Draw a circle at your two known points with a radius = the distance you want. The point you're looking for is where the two circles intersect. Is this kind of what you're looking for?

Point filters allow you to build points from the X, Y and/or Z coords. of other points. In conjunction with the FROM osnap, you can do most anything you need.
