How to use HandleToObject

I have read many threads where in the need for adding objects to a selection set via the objects handles it was suggested that the Handletoobject method be used.

My question is this: how does this method work? I can't find any documentation on it anywhere. I have googled and used the ActiveX API help in Map without success.

Also is Acadx.com gone for good or has it moved?

Thank you in advance for your assistence

    Bart

    Robert,
That's cool. What did you use to rip
the screen shot up and shadowcast it?

    Regards,
    Doug

  4. Pretty easy using Photoshop, (Techsmith) SnagIt, SPX Screen Capture ...

.... Or PaintShopPro as evidenced here : http://tinyurl.com/2hv56

    :)

Now that's a price I can afford. Thanks Robert.
I was thinking you had done it in Photoshop.

    Thanks.

  7. Doh, my bad, I forgot, abundant apologies. It's a support
site for a product I'm helping beta test when I've time. I
had posted screen grabs that were similar to Robert's, only
they were created in Paint Shop Pro. While it's not a hush
hush site, nor is development of their product, the forums
do require a membership; I'm sorry to have inconvenienced
you or anyone else who clicked that link and 404'd.

FYI the product is an Win API SDK Designer / IDE for the
Power BASIC compiler, something most folks around here would
turn their nose at. Still, as a long time PB'er I like it
and think the product has a very good future with PB folk.

    Limited info at: http://www.planetsquires.com/firefly.htm

Again, my apologies Doug / All.

  8. Michael,

SnagIt loads quick, compared to PSP (on my 'puter, anyway) and makes it easy
to find the torn effect. I still haven't found the torn effect in PSP
    <wwaaahhh>.

  9. I tried SnagIt awhile back - very capable program, though I didn't
like the way they laid out the modules IIRC. Still, lots of folks
swear by it. I'm just a die hard PSP'r - been using it longer than
Textpad! SPX Screen capture loads even faster than SnagIt, and also
does the jagged edge thing, though for my money, PSP still wins
because it can do all that and WAY more, bias aside :)

  10. So where is the torn edge in PSP? I use PSP for heavy editing, but I don't
know where that effect is at. (I've been using PSP for years too, but I'm
way behind the curve on its newer features.)

  11. Michael, my PSP 7.something does not capture toolbars with the transparency
    effect on.
I haven't upgraded to PSP 8 yet, but have the feeling it doesn't do it
    either.

  12. Rightttttt ;^)

P.S. I tried it, didn't like it. Man, am I spoiled! <vbg> Although, at least
I have more options with PSP.

Just put objects on their own layer and then use the freehand
selection tool to identify everything you want to keep, inverse
the selection <ctrl><shift><i>, delete it, inverse the selection
again, then apply a drop shadow. *Poof* :) <see attached>

  14. SnagIt is for my quickie snapshots. PSP I use when I have major editing to
    do.

  15. Really comes down to using the right tool for the job, and
SnagIt certainly does what it's designed for rather well ...

.... and so does PSP - there's nary a graphic task I've had to
perform that PSP could not handle, be it digital photography,
software documentation or intranet / internet development :)

    Rightttttt ;^)

  16. Granted. I just spent two hours last evening working on tool palette icons
in PSP. <sigh> I *hate* pretty pictures. ;^)
