How to set up Plot files and line scale for different view ports?

    Hello
I have an xref in a drawing that is shown in 3 different viewports. Each viewport at is set at a different scale. The trouble is once I plot the drawing, each viewport prints at a different line thickness as a result some look too thin and other lines look too thick. Is there a way to adjust that? I only know how to set plot files and line scales (ltscale) globally for the drawing as a whole rather that for individual viewports.
    Cheers

I'm sure there is an easier way to do this, but he's my 2 cents:

You could copy the xref (actually insert three times, changing name each time). This will give each xref it's own layers which can be manipulated without affecting the properties in the other two. If that makes sense. That would seem to be an easy start.

    Hope that helps.

If your xref ltscale is set to 1, and your sheet has a (global) ltscale is
also set to 1, and your psltscale is set to 1, your pspace viewports will
scale the linetypes automatically. If this set correctly, your linetypes
between viewports will all look the same. Does this help?

<<each viewport prints at a different line thickness as a result some look too thin and other lines look too thick>>

The lineweight "appears" to be thicker because of the zoom scale factor. I think what you're seeing is the lineweights are the "same" in each viewport (which is how it works) and you want them to be "thinner" as the scale factor enlarges, so the lineweights are relative to the scale.

The only way, of which I'm aware, is to attach the same xref 3 different times, with different "virtual" names (rename command, under blocks). Then control the lineweights of each independently in individual viewports.

    Thanks everyone for suggestions.

It looks like I have to xref the image 3 times and then set the plot files as per image. It seems rather complicated. I am surprised that AutoDesk has not added that option- a way of assigning different plot files for different viewports. It could be useful for other things, like having some viewports in color and others in black and white. Maybe I should suggest it!

You mean suggest it "again"? ;-)

It's been on the wishlist since R11.

    Hi Ania,
I might be incredible thick but have you tried turning "OFF" the "Scale Lineweights" when plotting then I assume that the line thickness should be determined by the CTB/STb file and would be the same in all viewports regardless of the scale unless of course I'm missing the point totally, if I am apologies!!

    Regards,
