How to open dgn in AutoCAD

    Is there a way to open a Microstatin dgn drawing in AutoCAD? Or a
    third-party prog that will open and convert to .dwg?
    We use plain vanilla AutoCAD, and can buy AutoCAD LDD add-on for
    around $1000, but rarely need to open Microstation .dgn drawings, and
    can't justify the cost.
    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Bently Microstation opens .dgn. I want to open a dgn in AutoCAD, or
    convert dgn to dwg.

    Autocad Map & Land Desktop can import .dgn files (how well? I can't say)

    Best way is to save as .dwg from within microstation.

    I don't know of any 3rd party converters, but hopefully with the opendwg &
    opendgn alliance will wake up to the need.

    I am not making myself clear. We don't HAVE microstation. we have
    AutoCAD. We sometimes get .dgn files from other companies and need to
    open and use them in AutoCAD. AutoCAD will not open a .dgn drawing.
    Bentley Viewer will allow viewing of a .dgn file, but NOT saving it,
    converting it to .dwg, or copying it. I need an inexpensive software
    prog that will open a .dgn file and save it as a .dwg or .dxf file, so
    I can open it and work it in AutoCAd.
    Further suggestions?

    buy a copy of TurboCAD PRO

    can open/save in dgn or dwg format

    My company thanks you, Mr. Hooper, for your tip on TurboCAD. We
    looked on TurboCAd website, and found that the newest standard version
    of TurboCAD will open and save a dgn file to a dwg file! We
    purchased that version (not the Pro), for only $99, and could not be
    happier with it! We can open all those pesky dgn files now!
    Again, my sincere thanks to you. You saved us big bucks, and lots of
    frustration.
