When you are in Autocad, or in my case, Mechanical, with no drawing open, there is a QNEW icon on the toolbar. I want to change it to NEW, or better yet, add NEW to the toolbar. You can not rclick and get to customize at this point. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add or edit this toolbar?

Why are QNEW and NEW the same anyways??

Selecting NEW should bring up the template dialog.
Seletction QNEW should create a drawing automatically with a desired template file.

Why doesn't it already work this way ??

It does. But, if there is no drawing open, there is only one icon on the toolbar and it is QNEW. I don't want it to be just QNEW. I really want to add another icon for NEW. The problem is you can't right-click anywhere and get the customize dialog. So I want to know if there is somewhere I can edit something and add NEW>

This is not really what you are after with two toolbar buttons,

but if there is a file specified in the options entry for 'Default Template
File name for QNEW' it will automatically load the said file. If there is no
entry in the above entry, the template selection dialog displays

    Right, but...
I have a default template defined for QNEW. It doesn't have a title block. I also have a number of templates _with_ title blocks. I want to be able to click QNEW and open my default template, OR, click NEW and pick the template I want. I can't do that and was hoping there was a way to change (FIX) the toolbar.

Looks like a wish list item for AutoCAD 2006.
