how do you search the news server?

    google takes too long to post - hrs if not a day - i use outlook express as
    my reader but i dont know how to search it

    I use outlook express to read, and if I need to search, i use google.

  5. Right click the newsgroup in the tree and select find. The only problem
    with this is that it only searched the messages and headers you have
    previously read and downloaded.

    I use google for old information and express for recently read stuff.

    What does that have to do with searching? Or, perhaps you mean it takes
    too long for posted messages to make their way to Google. You'll never
    get the right answer if you don't ask the right question. :)
    The NNTP protocol doesn't have search capability, so you can't search a
    USENET server directly. If your newsreader stores the message bodies
    locally, you might be able to search it, but typically, the news client
    only stores basic information about each message (ID, subject, date,
    etc) and it only retrieves the body of the message on demand.

    Also, if stored locally, it is often in a binary format.
