My wife has given me the green light to upgrade the home computer so I
can install SolidWorks(copy my work license). Any of you out there
running SW at home? What do I need for a machine? What are you running?
    What would you change? Thanks.

Are your parts really complex? Are you working with 1,000+ part assemblies?
With the level of the current hardware out there, it would be tough to pick
    something that wouldn't work well.

Perhaps you could list what you have at home, and the group can recommend
    what needs to be changed.

You can get some really good deals on AMD 64 bit machines at places
like TigerDirect. Put in a GeForce and a gig of ram.

My biggest suggestion would be to get a graphics card that has passed
all tests on the solidworks site. Best most inexpensive one I have
used is the Nvidia Quadro FX500. If you look around online, you can
get a new one in a retail box for just over $200, on Ebay around $100.
My experiance with SW2005 so far is its need for a certified graphics
    card.
