I have a sheet metal part created. I then mirrored the part for RH LH
versions. I then apply bends to the mirrored version. In the original I have
a keyway punched and then it get bent across the keyway for bolt head
clearance as the part is slid over a bolt before tightening. When I go tho
the flattened version the keyway looks fine. In the mirrored version, when I
go to the flattened version the keyway is stretched across the bend material
creating an oblong looking key way. What gives? The reason I need the flat
in the mirrored version is to detail the keyway on the print in that state.
And yes I tried the ol' "Rh shown-LH and RH required" note but that didn't
fly with the man. We have to have a part number for every stinkin component,
    so he says! Sucks sometimes...TIA

  2. In your flattened configuration reference the flattened config of the RH
    part
    ..
Once you have a flattened config in you RH part and one in your LH part
right click on the mirrored part feature and list external refs.

In the external ref dialogue you can change the referenced config to the
flatpattern of the RH part and it will only change it for the current
    config.

The drawback to this method is that you loose your bend lines and on a
complex part this can be quite a problem but your flatpatterns will be
identical. If you unckeck simplify bends in the RH part you can use the
bend surfaces to create accurate centerlines, I haven't checked this for
    accuracy though.
