I started work for a small firm and the work i was doing was alot
different than the high school floorplans we did in class. Does anyone
have a copy of a site plan who could explain how to read the
dimensions(especially the small ones) and learn all of the symbols and
best ways of doing things. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Suggest you ask your boss. Standards vary from company to company and he
would probably rather you asked questions than screw up. Tell him that
although you know enough of autocad to do the drawings he wants, ie
reproduce drawings that you are given, that knowing what you are doing
and why you are doing it in exactly the way that you are expected to do
it will result in better drawings with fewer mistakes.

  3. Dimensions are dimensions, regardless of the drawing type (site plan vs.
details). They read the same way.

As for the rest, any complete plan should include a legend that explains
what the symbols used signify. Any reasonably intelligent and determined
person should be able to pick up a good site plan and understand what's
depicted without any secret decoder ring...
