I'm new to solidworks, but am familiar with Inventor.
Where do you enter data into solidworks so that it
transfers from part data to drawing titleblock?

    Thanks

There are some things that should remain secrets.

You could put forth the effort to think up a descriptive subject line, too. I
know it's tough but people will appreciate it.

Thanks for the help. I have been working madly on the tutorials, it
is very similar program to Inventor, actually much nicer. The properties
setup however is not as user friendly.

    Joseph,

You want to look into the help on Custom Properties. It is quite
extensive and involved. You can access them from the FILE menu or by
right clicking properties of a configuration in the configuration
manager. That to me is the prefered way.

There are actually three types of custom properties. There is a summary
tab similar to any Windows Document. There is a Custom Properties tab
and there is a Configuration Specific Custom Properties tab. Over the
years I have come to the conculsion that I want to do all my Custom
Properties work in the Configuration specific tab. This is because if
and when you start using configuration parts it will make programming
macros and life in general a bit easier.

Some people on the NG have found ways to paste from excel spreadsheets
directly into custom properties. I'll leave it to you to search that
    out.

In the drawing there are various ways to set the source for the custom
properties displayed in a note. They can source from the drawing
document, or IMHO the better way, can source from the model in the
drawing. There is a list box in the Properties of the sheet tab that
helps choose which source the notes on the drawing will use. This
    setting is frequently overlooked.

Since setting custom properties is in general a PITA there are tools
out there that can help in various ways. swCP3 is my favorite freebie
but requires configuration. PropAGator does a slightly different task
    but is quite good.
