help! Windows installer evil demon taken over computer :-(

Any one know how to disable windows installer?
(WIN2K)

everytime i click a post in outlook express to read, or use any vb routine,
or start vb,
i get a windows installer box "preparing to install" that hangs
any vb routine crashes acad
almost every thing I do brings up the windows installer box.
I cancel it but it takes a minute or two for it to go away, and in some
cases just keeps coming back no matter how many times i cancel it.

There is a patch on ms' website to address this...not sure how well it
works, tho.

Had to format and reinstall everything, what a bummer, (especially for Jason
our IT dept. who had to do all the dirty work!.)

yeah, don't think I trust much from ms anymore!!!

 

Least it wasn't you doing the dirty deed!
