    Hi,

We're given digital maps (DWG format) and database of co-ordinates of buildings, places etc.

    Want to :
    - post the drawings to web and provides searching capcbilities for locations (just like what some web sites provide for the pubic to search and locate from digital maps). What is the approach to do? How do we do it? Needs to convert the DWG files into BMP format first? Or can I proceed and leave it as DWG format?

    - How to SEARCH/LOCATE locations from digital maps? Any idea what is the practice those web sites do?

    - pls guide me to the resources to look at and the approach to do?

We'hv AutoCad 2004. We're using ASP.NET in VB language on web server.

    thanks in advance,
    jackling.

Here is the GIS site for Maricopa county in Arizona. They use something
similar to what you are talking about, and they use a tool from
AutoDesk for doing it. Check it out, and see if that is what you are
    looking for.

Click the link for Parcel Maps, and check out their setup.

  3. Maybe you should check for Autodesk MapGuide solution which is all about
publishing maps to the Web. It requires basic understanding of Java and
VBScript for what you are trying to achieve.

Mapguide would be the way to do it. However if you are only locating a
selected number of locations to view and have the time you can use the dwf
format with saved views of the selected locations.
