hatches in x-ref drawings

    I use hatches in drawings, grey solids as well as others.
    With display order these hatches are brought to back.
    Then, in paper space, the result looks good and can be printed, and I
    can make pdf and jpg's that look correct.
    Now, if we attach this drawing to another drawing (as x-ref or block),
    the result is that I only see the grey hatch, and not the black lines
    that overwrite the hatch. Some plotters make a good print although,
    but pdf's and jpg's (for powerpoint use) look pretty bad.
    How come?

    DRAWORDER does not carry over when a drawing is XRef'd. To correct this
    problem, you'll need to take more extreme measures. The most common fix is
    to COPY all of the objects you want to "show through" the hatch, over
    themselves, then ERASE Previous, and SAVE. This will permanently place those
    objects on top of the hatch.
