    Hi,

Is there any way to obtain the contour of a hatched region? For
instance, as a polyline (or a set of polylines, if the region has
"islands" inside. Mine does not have islands, though). I'm trying
    Autocad 2007.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. If you know that the boundary has only straight lines in it you can 'find'
the straight lines by connecting the dots at the edges. Something similar
can be done with arc segments. You might want to first reduce the scale of
the hatch to a very small number to prevent the loss of detail you might get
if the hatch is coarser than the ins and outs of the original boundary.

In ACAD2006, double click the hatch to open Hatch Edit, click Recreate
Boundaries, and select P for Polyline on the command line. Hopefully
    2007 hasn't removed that option.
