Why is it that whenever I change the number of decimal places in a dimension
the tolerance values revert to default!

How would they not? What are you expecting them to do or how are you expecting
    them to appear?

rel. 2001- build 2003010; metric units; working in the drawing of a part.
This applies to both 'created' and 'shown' dimensions.

My default decimal places is 2. If I right click the dimension and click
properties it opens the dimension dialogue box. If I change a tolerance
value from the default +/-0.30 to say +/- 0.10, then I decide afterwards to
alter the decimal places of the dimension from 2 to 1, the tolerance value
does not change to +/-0.1 as one would expect, but reverts to +/-0.3. This
could lead to tolerances being modified by ProEngineer unexpectedly.

Imagine if you have laid out a drawing, calculated and entered all your
tolerances, then you decide to alter the decimal places of many dimensions
all at once? They will all change back to default values, and you will have
to recalculate and edit them all. Even worse, you may not notice the changes
and release the drawing with the wrong tolerances.
