group policy error with Express Tools

In order to install AutoCAD 2004 on a W2K workstation via active directory group policies, you need to apply a patch from Autodesk. Otherwise you get error 1606 and it won't install.

But when trying to install the Express Tools MSI, I get the same error 1606. However, Autodesk doesn't have a group policy MST patch for Express Tools.

So how can I install Express Tools using a group policy?

I installed the express tools MSI just fine with GP in a Win 2K AD domain.
But I installed it to Win XP Pro workstations....not Win 2K Pro.

    Nick,

My expertise is with licensing and SMS. As I am not an expert on GPO, I
checked with our group who does testing with GPO. Sorry but it seems the
problem you are describing is a known limitation. So, while you can use GPO
to deploy AutoCAD you will need to consider other methods to deploy Express
    Tools.

  5. No answer here for your problem, but we use GPO to install EXPRESSTOOLS.MSI
and it seems to work ok.
