Could someone tell me to what extent does a graphics card contribute to
rapid regens and/or better performance in autocad? Is OpenGl preferable to
    the Heidi graphics system..?

  2. OpenGL is needed for 3D only and thus not used by 2D Autocad (besides
the orbit), in fact every recent, cheap video card as e.g. a nVidia FX
5200 already with the native Forceware Windows driver does provide
    more than enough 2D acceleration.

Better invest in a faster CPU which will show much more impact on
    regen speed.

Thanks for the info.BTW I noticed my A2004 supports multithreading on two
processors. I occured to me if an extra computer (lots of those form
upgrades) could be wired to same input devices and monitor, one might switch
between computers from the same seat... just a thought..

Too bad ACAD doesn't support parallel processing. Considering a computer
and/or an soft upgrade cost about the same, guess where autodesk would like
    you to spend?
