Gradient Hatching

I have been testing out AutoCAD2004's hatching as of late. Was able to set up a plotting pen file that has about the same shading (screened or greyscale pens) as we had back in R14.

I have been unable to plot Gradient hatches so far. I take a pen that is 25% screened and a second pen that is 75% screened and when I plot it comes up empty as if the hatch was never there.

If I take a two solid hatches and have one be the 25% screened pen and the other the 75% screened pen. They print out fine. Yet if I try to do the Gradient with the two colors I get nothing. Is there a step I'm missing?

    We use a DesignJet 700

I have found slight success. I plotted the gradient hatching in a model space. Yet, it did not plot where I selected. From 0,0 it rotated 180 degrees. And it still will not plot in paper space windows.
