Good place to buy ICAD or LT?

I basically want to learn how to use CAD at home.
Where can I get a decent buy on buying one of these two items?

It sounds like ICAD is a better (cheaper) choice. I hope it is
    similiar enough to ACAD.

What are some great first books, step by step tutorials, etc.

I don't even know what LISP is.

  2. For LT, watch the sales in the Sunday paper. The major retailers
(CompUSA, etc.) run sales on LT frequently.

For Intellicad, I like www.bricscad.com. They seem to be leading the
field in capability at this point. Hard to say whether Intellicad is
"close enough" to AutoCad. AutoDesk keeps changing things, so there's
no one standard. Most things either are very similar or can be made
    similar.

    For starters:

    http://www.intellicad.org/
    http://www.cadopia.com/
    http://www.bricscad.com/

The free trial offers are great if you are prepared to spend a lot of time
in a single month on learning it, since that will cost you nothing.
It is a clone, and as close as they could make it without getting busted.
You can easily go from one to the other.
Can't help there. A long time ago I studied from George Omura's "Mastering
AutoCAD", and an AutoCAD manual. It seemed to do the job for me.
It is a programming language that can be used to make custom tailored
"commands" or "routines" that can make Acad/Icad more productive by
harnessing the power of the computer to more of the work instead of your
fingers and brain. I have a bunch on my site with descriptions of what they
    do.

Do a Google search. You should find lots of price comparisons, along with
answers to most of your other questions. You won't need LISP if you opt for
LT, however; LT doesn't support much in the way of customization unless you
    spring for some third-party add-ons.

CMS has the best price. $51.95 for the standard edition. That's the one I
use. It is quite AutoCAD like. Going between the two is easy. In any case,
what does it matter if it is like AutoCAD or not? Do yourself a favor
though. If Intellicad/AutoCAD is what you want to use, learn to use the
command line. If you become icon bound, the transition from one to the other
will be a lot more difficult.
