I have one user on my network who is getting the following error when
    opening a .gpk file (job013.gpk).

"Geopak has detected an older version of this .gpk file. Do you wish
to create a back up of this file as j97013.gbk then create an updated
    version?"

The file was never created with an older version of Geopak and other
users are able to access this file without problems using the same
    version of Geopak.

    Any ideas?

Also the file seems to open just fine when copied locally but does not
    work off the network.

    Thomas:

    Some things to check for:

    1. Can anyone else open this file while on the server?
    2. If not, does the directory path contain anything other than letters or
    numbers? spaces, dashes, ....???
    3. What is the network OS? Windows? Netware? Other?
    4. Try nuking rsc files in the GEOPAK\bin folder.
    5. Try nuking the UPF file.

BTW, I'd suggest posting this to the GEOPAK newsgroup on:
    news://news.viecon.com

It was a problem with the Novell client 4.83 which was recently
reloaded onto his PC with out the patch. I applied a patch and now
everything works just fine. Also works with client 4.83 SP2.

    Thanks for the help!
