Generate file of block locations

I haven't used ACAD in a while and have forgotten how to generate a file of the locations of named points. I would like to click on a series of locations and enter a numerical label for each one while adding it to a file of blocks.
I've written the template, but what are the steps to generating the list?

Your are posting into the print/plot group. I think you might
want to be in one of the ACAD groups. The AutoCAD Index can be
accessed by the HTTP (web-based) interface at
http://discussion.autodesk.com/index2.jspa?categoryID=8
