Is there anyone out there that knows how to change the f1 key to not shell
out to help everytime you miss the escape button?

    thanks for any help,

  3. Easy:

    Type:
    TOOLBAR
at the command prompt, next select tab
    KEYBOARD
    From Categories combo box select:
    "Whatever" TOOLBAR
From Commands list select, for example
    "Any command you want"
In the text box "Press new shortcut key" enter, for instance:
    F1
    Click on button "ASSIGN".

I just pop the d*** button off the keyboard. Then I learned to not hit
itand put the button back on.

A variation on this method is to tape a thumbtack on F1 pointy end up.
People who say they "can't" change their habits turn out to be very quick
learners when they have an actual motivation.

The irony of this frequently asked question is that the method of disabling
F1 can be learned from Help.

Having to hit the escape key constantly my self, I ended up making the wheel
button on the mouse an escape key. Now I dont have to "hover" all the time
    with my left hand

    Happy holidays

You are brilliant, multiple keyed mouse = no more unwanted help shell

Why didn't I think of that?

The ESC key on my keyboard is twice the distance from F1 as any other key is from any other key. Sounds like sloppy keyboard skills to me.
