Font Folder Permissions

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Brooks Mccleery, Feb 7, 2005.

  1. I am wondering if denying write/modify access to the font folder inside AutoCAD/LDDT will cause any problems. I have tested it out and it doesn't seem to disrupt anything. The reason I want to restrict access is to prevent user from using any fonts that other tech's do not have access to. Would there be any reason for Autodesk to write to this folder?

    Thanks

  2. The 'pref' folder is the only one I have found that makes LDD scream when
    you lock it down.

  3. Inside the data folder.

I am working with 2005?. The limited use white papers instruct you to make the install directory, and all sub folders read/write for every user.

    thanks for the speedy reply.

  4. I'm sorry, yes, the 'pref' inside 'data'. I assume it's the same with 2005,
we're on 04. The reason for the suggestion in the white papers is because
they don't have to deal with the ensuing mess that full read/write/modify
    permissions create.
