flaten out a 3d radius

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Andrew Elmore, Jan 27, 2004.

  1. How can I calculate the new radius if I flatened out a 3d solid. It would be
a strip that would wrap half way around a orange......

How can I calculate what a radius and length would be if I flatened a
compound curve? Example if I take a section out of a globe and laid it out
flat what would the formula be to figure the new curve radius and length
    ect...

    Thanks,
    Andy

    Thanks,

Your program seems like it is for surfaces only. Does it work with solids or is it really just the 3D polylines that is uses?

It would be great if it did actually work directly on solids. That would be a great thing.
