    Hi all,

    Boat question.
Another SW user has asked how they can calculate the length of raw
material for stringers on a boat.

It is a "L" section that is swept along a guide profile and then
    trimmed as necessary.

What he would like to do is have the length of the trimmed extrusion
    appear in a BOM..
Can't seem to find a property of this trimmed extrusion to use as an
    Length value.

    Any suggestions?

A long time enhancement I have had is to be able to dimension a spline
or a series of connected and tangent curves. Your have brought up one
reason. The other is to be able to do parametric modeling where the
distance along the directrix can change dimensions in the generatrix.

A possible workaround depends on whether your sweep path is made solely
of lines and arcs or has splines. If just lines and arcs and they are
placed on the neutral axis of the stringer you can use an equation to
sum individual dimensions and then grab that dimension for the bill.
