Does anybody know of a drawing file extension plf? What application creates that file? I need to print a group of these files.

not sure if it was "plf" but I remember a while back getting files from an
outside source that had some unrecognized extension
somehow winzip was magically able to unzip them to dwgs

Open it in a text editor, like notepad. Look at the first line and/or the
last line. If I open a DWG in notepad, I see AC1015 on the first line. If
I open a DOC file, I see "Microsoft Word Document", MSWordDoc, and
word.document.8 on the last 2 lines.

This works with some files, but not all. USE WITH CAUTION. DON"T SAVE
    CHANGES.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Since I couldn't find any reference other than the one Dan found, I asked for dwg files instead.
