Faux attributes on Polylines

I'm kind of stumped on this. I'm trying to figure out some way to have the "area" property of a polyline plot on-screen, which would be really useful for auditing and estimation purposes. Ideally, this would be some type of real-time link, but if it was possible to have the function make a sweep whenever the routine is executed, that would also work.

Is there a way to use lisp to do this? I know how to use lisp from my computer science days, but I'm not familiar enough with autolisp to crack this myself.

What version? If 2k5, look in help under 'fields'.

    Field/Object/<Pick polyline>/Properties/Area

Wow, glad it was so easy.

Thanks so much, I was having a hell of a time trying to script this functionality.

Glad it helped -- if you're using A2005, have you looked at 'Fields'?

They're a text-like entity that can be attached to entities and display properties of those entities; they don't automagically update when a polyline is modified, but they can be set to update upon regen.
