    I am trying to extrude a bolt thread profile down a spiraling path
    with the correct pitch. I cannot seem to be able to create the path. I
    have tried creating arcs and giving them an endpoint with a z
    dimension but AutoCAD will not allow me to do so. What is the best way
    to go about creating a spiral path in which to extrude the thread
    profile? Please help....

    HiHo;
    At MSN Autocad users forum a answer in the R2000 section is as follows.
    the procedure is very long, you probably have it, you start with a
    rectangle the size of the bolt, draw three lines for the slope on the right
    end of the rec. you draw the angle lines for the threads and then 60 degree
    angles at the top and bottom of the slope lines, these are extended into
    triangles that are "revolved" then "sliced" in half, the half is copied and
    inverted on top of the other half then this is arrayed over the bolt shank,
    the arrayed part is then substracted and you are left with threads, from
    there you add a cylinder and bolt head to complete the bolt.
