I'm drawing an object in 2d first from the top view. I have grouped all
objects together (an arc and a few lines) and would like to turn it
into a solid. I thought I could extrude but apparently not. Any
suggestions on what I should try? I'd like to make it 3d for the sake
    of rendering.

    Thanks for any help!

  2. Why and how did you "group" your objects? Did you know
you can get context related help by hitting F1 after issuing a command?
    I would start there.

Can't extrude a group. Needs to be a closed polyline.

    Type boundary
    Select make new boundary set
    Select objects
    Then pick internal points
    Voila then extrude

  5. I was betting it wasn't a "group" at all.

There are several pieces that need to be moved around in order to try
diff't configurations. Grouping makes this quite easy.
    Just type "Group".

  7. As you have been told, grouping will prevent you from extruding.

Thanks for the tip. I've been messing w/boundary; trying to extrude and
revolve. Neither seem to accomplish the goal. I am trying to
essentially make a ramp. The challenge is in the shape of the ramp.
It's kind of like a wedge yet it can't be that straight. It has to
start straight then start to curve. Any ideas?

How about an extruded splined polyline, edge-on to the ramp?

how about make it straight then subtract or union an arced object as needed.
