Extraneous windows in SW2008?

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

    I'm using SW2008 SP3.0 in a Windows XP system.
When I open an assembly model of just moderate complexity(i.e. SW is
using 400Mb of RAM), if I open a part model I will find that that
window will sometimes persist no matter how many times I close it. In
some cases, I'll get part model windows opening up all by themselves,
and when I use the "Window" menu command to change windows, I get one
of these "extraneous" windows. In other words, usually the extraneous
window is one that I've already had open in the current session, but
not always. The problem doesn't seem to be model-specific, although
some part models seem to be worse than others. The problem seems to
occur with part model windows only, in other words, I don't get
extraneous sub-assembly windows. I occasionally noticed the problem in
SW2007, but in 2008 it seems to be a lot worse.

    Anyone else?

I saw this a lot also when we first switched to 2008. Sometimes it
would be a part file that I didn't actually open, but was in my
assembly. I haven't noticed it as much since we went to SP3.0. It
also seemed to happen more often if I would use ctrl-tab to switch
between open documents and then use the "window" menu. I typically
use ctrl-tab and maybe that's why i don't notice it so much now.

This is one of those known bugs in 2008 that may get fixed in one of the
SP for 2010 or whenever they get aroundtuit

I'm not sure if this is the same thing exactly but YES, in 2008sp3
(and earlier),.. sometimes the FM (Feature Manager) windows will NOT
close,.. they seem to get stuck open!?!?
For instance, when editing a loft, the FM window for the loft will
remain open,.. it will not close!?!?!?

.. (oh joy add more $, break it,.. and fix it in the next sp or
    release?)

    Hi Dave,

Found out (through another forum) the Nero Software that was included
with my DVD Burner put an executable into the boot sequence that
caused SolidWorks to give these problems. Once I turned it off in
MSCONFIG, the machine (and SW-2008 v.3.1) has run fine.
Also switching off the Windows search can help to make SW more stable.

    What was the NERO file?
Can you post a link to the forum you reference??

Hmm... doesn't apply to my FM windows being stuck on cuz,.. neither
Nero or the Windows Search is used or on.

And, if either of these were on,... what the heck do they have
anything to do with SW window management???

Anyhow, I don't think that is the problem... personally, it's SW poor
    programming,.. they have a history.

Otherwise,.. I'll second it,...where is the forum you are talking
    about.... add link, please.

The nero file in the msconfig is the NeroCheck (C:\Program
    Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\NeroCheck.exe).
I don't remember were I saw it, but it helps me with this problem!

I see the unwanted part windows when CTRL-Tabbing to other open parts
when the assembly is open. I am on 2.1 and this is an everyday
    experience.
