External references in Design Tables?

I know that dimensions are referenced by name at the top of the columns
in a Design Table, but is it possible to use dimension names instead of
numbers in the value cells?

If so, is it possible to make external references in design table value
cells? Eg: instead of, say, Cell value = "10" it could be
"=D1@"?

You would bring in the external value, if allowed, by creating a column
for it and then referencing the value in that column in the usual

Do as Paul pointed out. If you try to put the config string in there
(="D1@Extrude1@@") then Excel reads it as a literal text
string. If you remove the quotes, it gets all confused.
