Well you know discrete is what gets you guys into trouble..
It prevents you asking the questions you really want to know and
people cant tell what it is you really are about so they cant give
proper feedback or at least they cant give considered answers in the
5-10 mins they spend catching up on the news here
You wont share your info or pay for others time so people cant spend
real time exploring their beliefs or generating and refining solutions
So what do you learn from this?
My guess is virtually nothing useful. You just do what you want, or
    marketing want or...
You guys were discrete last time about the UI and then we got this
interesting diversion for 08..we dont need to do that again - sometime
about 2015 we finally hit the target while mutually blindfolded
    perhaps?
To carry this just a little further I filled out a questionairre for
you guys yesterday - dont often bother about it now seeing I am not on
subs - and this is exactly the issue that went through my head
What is it they are actually thinking of doing when they ask this?
Although someone must have some idea why they commissioned it there
just didnt seem to be any real gathering going on...or at least the
intent was obscure you could have answered yes to every question and
    it would have been ok
Because of the way the questions were asked and the answers were
framed it was virtually impossible to actually give meaningful
responses..or at least I am not sure anyone sifting through the
replies would actually prepare a worthwhile report from it
    example:
At Ford we are preparing designs for our next years cars..
Please indicate you preference for the number of wheels as a
percentage -try to be as precise as you can-
    a.0-1 wheels
    b.1-3 wheels
    c.3-5 wheels
    thank you for your time...

    or..)

How would you describe a car without brakes in your experience?
    extremely satisfying
    faster than I expected
    exciting

We are trying to refine our answers please indicate the size of your
    underwear:
I share them with my passengers
    not applicable
    I can barely contain myself

Thank you. I'll remember this the next time I'm totally pissed off
with Solidworks Corp... which is nowhere near what it use to be. Since
returning to SolidWorks I'm finding I like it a lot better. Not having
Multibodies / disjoint solids drove me nuts and as I'm sure you know I
moved to VX which supported Multibodies / disjoint solids from day
    one.

The Solidworks files that I am often asked to work with never fail to
amaze me in just how many SolidWorks users don't have the proper
training. I understand that not every SolidWorks user can afford to
layout this kind of money because I know I'm not willing to and I take
it this is typical VAR pricing.

    http://www.maverick-solutions.com/Directory.php?gclid=CPDb7LmRqo4CFSgKYAodujwriw&ID=166&ID2=20

I spent $650 on SolidProfessor training and while I have found it to
be very good in many areas it badly lacks in 3D Sketching and on
Advanced Surfacing. I have no doubt that doing your razor video will
greatly help me and others I work with.

Since this must be my lucky day any chance you can release the files
for the boat hull you did a while ago?

Jon, don't you find it ironic that you're trying to degrade me by
saying I don't post with my "real" name (Joe is my real name), while
simultaneously posting with three different usernames in the same
    topic?

I know all of the SANE people do.

    How's that pizza taste?

You might use adaptive "menu structures" that the user an
lock into configurations ... or specify if they know enough.
Many users never traverse down some command logic
chains so such could be at the bottom of the heap for them in
some cases (or removed entirely from that "configuration")
while the more common (for their use) could "promote"
themselves to the top of the heap. User in effect "trains" the
    user interface to a degree.
    Same with default values.

    Just a thought.

Unlike you with none at all.
If you did you might end up with a seat of Soidworks.
Not that you'd have any clues.

The real problem is you can watch all the videos your eyes can stand, and
read till your blind, but if your not using what your learning its just
    wasted time.
Solidworks is trying to be all things to all people.
This year was the first time I really used assembly mode, never needed it
before, I was just making models to machine.
Hell thats 1/3 of the software? I can just imagine how much of the software
I don't even know exists, but I'm only gonna learn what I need, time is
    precious.
That's why I suggest the best way to learn a piece of software like
solidworks is to use Pro-e, or UG, or Xsi, etc...
That works great for machines too.
