  2. Are you the real Joe788 or the fake Joe788 posting about real and fake
names or are you just a real fake imbecile?

  6. Red, not sure about the "inbecile"

    We got it!

You're not sure you're an imbecile but you're sure you're the real
    joe788 not the fake joe788.

You've done plenty of that too.
Not at all, but I'm not surprised.

What makes you think that inane CAD chat is welcome in AMC?

The thread showed up in AMC X-posted from CCS.

Some in AMC even use CAD/CAM or CAM systems instead of MS Word.
Probably a few with CAD too.
Even a few with SW. That actually can & do use it, unlike poor clueless.
And a good user interface is ... ?
No much more than "Native Windows", Catia & clueless I
expect <G>. Actually, the later was pretty funny.

  13. How To Describe Tom Brewer:

    Ignorant:

Someone who has a proven track record of not being able to deal with
or accept the kind of change that occurs in the cadcam market... now
that's ignorant or should we say that's Tom Brewer.

    Ignorant:

Someone who doesn't live in San Diego yet insists there is no shortage
of CNC machinists here... now that's ignorant or should we say that's
    Tom Brewer.

    Ignorant:

Someone who criticizes someone on SolidWorks but has never helped
anyone with specific SolidWorks answers. Someone who is not able to
answer any questions that "Vinny" had on master modeling or skeletal
modeling. Someone who has never posted any models they have done...
now that's ignorant or should we say that's Tom Brewer.

    Ignorant:

Tom Brewer's failure to understand who Matt Lombard really is.

    Ignorant:

Someone who can't understand more than a simple "I love it!" or "I
hate it!" type of comment ... now that's ignorant or should we say
    that's Tom Brewer.

Tom Brewer has in many ways become just like Cliffy and that's what
    "Reverse Stalking" does to someone.

Perhaps Tom Brewer, like Cliffy, now desires to become more like
    me! :>)

    Jon,

You liked SolidWorks 1998 but called SW 2006 a complete piece of shit,
so what changed between SW-1998 that you liked and SW-2006 that made
it a complete piece of shit Jon?

    To all,

I'm apologize that I have not been responding to this post for the
pass several days as I've been out in southern CA visiting customers
and non-customers (ID firms), and also my wife and I delivering my
daughter to College. Let me tell you for all you dad's with daughters,
    it's been very emotional for my wife and I to let my "little girl" go;
especially 3000 miles away from us.

The question that started this thread was simple and basic - What are
some good examples of UI that you've experienced - that's it. My
reason for the question has nothing to do with 2008, but rather some
new work that we're getting into.

I and my colleagues are reading every response here and your comments
do not fall on deaf ears - we value the input and time that many of
you have taken to write some thoughtful responses. As for what I'm
hearing here as well as the many customers that I've visited is that
they want their product to be serious, efficient, clean, capable,
predictable and devoid of "eye-candy." Surprisingly, this is
especially true for Industrial designers as many of them have told me
that they've seen quit a lot of it (different software) and they can
see right through the "wolf in sheep's clothing." I think they get
falsely pegged that ID software has to reflect their personal
creativity and it should, but not to the point that it is artificial.
They all mentioned that it should be highly customizable since for
many, there is no other program in which they spend more time in front
    of.

I think paramount areas of importance in CAD type products are viewing
and selection; I mean, can you think of anything you do more
frequently in CAD? Pass that, making the workflow easy to understand
for the novice, and that same workflow principle efficient for the
    advanced user.

Thanks. Now I need to keep reading - I'm only on response 25.

Well, actually looks like there were only about 10 to 15 more posts
worth reading and then the train ran off the track. Thanks to all of
    you that responded constructively.

    Well thats pretty disappointing Mark
I thought you were soliciting our opinion
If I have known it was a casual toss I wouldnt have bothered to write
    that much..arrrgh..what a waste..(
....good on you if you read every response... ;o)

As a side note we had a young lady turn up at the company I have been
temping at all the way from CA
She was working her way around the country and doing some snow
boarding while she took time out before deciding what to study at
    university.
Needless to say her mother rang her more often than she probably
appreciated without thought of the time difference and her father flew
out all this way for a 2 day visit...
They neednt have worried however cos a couple of us oldies made sure
see got some discrete 'parenting' as required ;o)

No, it's not a casual toss, and it won't be wasted, I just need to be
    discrete right now.
