ERROR MESSAGE IN HATCH

I downloaded a wood.pat into the Support Folder; restarted computer, opened my dwg and clicked the Boundary Hatch /Pattern/ Custom and it shows where the new pattern is but a message says "ERROR in Pattern File" as soon as i clicked on the file.
But when I opened the Design Centre, browsed to where this new pattern is, the Boundary Hatch window appears, and I can use the new pattern.

Why I have to get into the Design Centre to get the pattern?

I suspect that you have more then one definition in the wood.pat
    file....If you choose Hatch /Pattern/Custom,
then each pattern must be in a separate file.

I've had that problem and I ended up making sure there was a <enter> at the end of the text and that fixed it.
