Dominic has been pushing his e-mail list forever. He even
sent me a nastygram to which I politely responded. Of
course I got no answer. LOL

The problem with his and others head in the sand concept
/ don't criticise SaladWorks list is that in todays world
many of us have to use multiple CAD/CAM systems and have
a need to discuss them and other systems. Further, their
to stupid to realize that criticising SaladWorks as
well as changing to other products is what will really make
SaladWorks do what it's suppose to do.... even if they
think it's all about things like The SaladWorks OCC bike...
    what an uninspiring concept.

IMO, the sooner these crybaby's leave the better.... there
too dumb to realize a product doesn't improve in a vacuum.

    Question:

What's the deference between a SolidWorks product loyalist,
a Rhino product loyalist and an Autodesk product loyalist ?

    Answer:

    There is none.

Here is to hoping a non-product loyalist shows up on the VX
forum at www.cadchat.com and starts raving how good ImpactSoft
IX Style is. I look forward to welcoming them and finding
out more about ImpactSoft IX Style. :>)

    Get some clues first.
Use a good one, not 5 bad ones, no
matter how many buzzwords the glossy ads have.
You save a LOT of money .....

  9. What list did I start? I think your hitting the wrong guy here. I am new
to solidworks, I have been working with for only 4 weeks now... Before that
I have worked 2 years with Inventor (which I miss for the moderated
newsgroup), 1 year with I-DEAS and 1 year with Pro-E.

Also, I am not against the fact that you talk about your VX software on this
newsgroup. I am against the trash talk following your posts. I am tired of
hearing you saying the same thing over and over. Stop saying that it is
better for lots of reasons... and give explicitly these reasons. And
finally, I hate childish comments like Moderator does. Jezz, I thought the
high school talk was way behind me...

I thought I was here to get help to use a tool, not the perfect one. I
think none of them is. I can't change software everyday because a new one
has came out. You can't do that in a big company. So it is not a matter of
being stupid loyalist, it is just that we all have a job to do and might as
well do it the best we can with the tools we have. In french, we have an
expression that applies here : the grass is always greener on the
    neighbor's land. (free translation...)

    Grow up people!

it yourself. Mr Pot, meet Mr Kettle.

"Stop saying that it is better for lots of reasons... and
    give explicitly these reasons."

I frequently list what VX will do better than SolidWorks
    *FREQUENTLY*

Just today I commented that in VX 11 you can detach the VX
Manager (same concept as SolidWorks Feature Manager) and put
it on another monitor... apparently you can't do this in
SolidWorks. I like working with dual monitors. Do you ? If
so, how about trying to improve SolidWorks by putting in an
enhancement request so that SolidWorks Feature Manager can
run in another monitor thereby freeing up needed screen
    real estate.

If I get a chance I will try and make a list of all the
things that I feel VX does better than SolidWorks. In the e-
mail I sent you in response to the one you sent me I asked
if the company you work for does it's own machining. I asked
this question for a good reason and I'm still waiting for a
response.... right here is fine with me.

I think it's cool that you have used Inventor, Pro/E and now
    SolidWorks.

"And finally, I hate childish comments like Moderator does."

I'm glad that he see fit to comment. The childish behavior
is on the part of those who refuse to accept the charter
that the SolidWorks newsgroup was created under. These
pathetic whining cry baby's can't handle discussion of other
products in a comparative way nor can they accept that it's
only the competition that will force SolidWorks Corp. to
address issues that SolidWorks Corp. has refused to address
    for years.... not their whining.

I'm hoping someone puts VX to the test on large assemblies
and reports whether VX can do a better job than
SolidWorks... if it can't lets get it out in the open. If it
can then perhaps it will be yet another embarrassment that a
small company like VX can get it right while SolidWorks
Corp. continues to get so much of it wrong.

I don't mind moderated newsgroups or webforums if it's
done right ! Autodesk does it all wrong and censors the
shit out of lots or valuable stuff.

www.cadchat.com does an excellent job of letting heated
discussion take place but doesn't put up with the kind of
stalking and personal attacks that happen here.

Even if your company will never use VX, IMO you should still
download it and spend some time with VX. I love using VX. I
think you will also if you give VX a chance. If you like
what VX does then why not ask for the same things in SolidWorks ?
If you get as addicted to VX as I'm getting and force your
company to buy VX or use VX at home for side jobs or
whatever, I promise not to tell anyone. :>)

Having wireframe allowed in model and assembly can really
make things a lot easier. SolidWorks does not allow this. VX
    does.

    Has CAM capabilities?
Has to totally redo their kernel quite often?
Has to redo the user interface quite often?
Has to release bug fixes quite often?

    What did I miss?
