DXF: white fills are rendered black

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Jeroen Dekker, Aug 6, 2004.

  1. When we have DXF files that include shapes with white fills, those
fills are rendered as black when opened in AutoCAD (2000). Can anyone
explain this behavior, or even help us work around it? Is there an
engineering reason why white fills are a special case? If you look at
the properties of the white shape, it's all of a sudden listed as
    white/black.

I can provide you with a sample if needed, via email.

    Thanks in advance,

Check the plot style to determine what color is specified for color 7 plotting. If the plot style specification for color seven is set to black and/or the pen number is set to 7, this may be the cause.

Another forum had a similar question about plotting white text on a colored background. The suggestion was made to set the text color to 255 and change the plot style to "use object color" for color 255. Maybe this might work for you.

They open fine in 2005. I don't see anything wrong in the DXF files. Do the
colors stay black after a regen? Can you change the colors and have them
display properly? does a list of the hatch show anything unexpected?

display on screen in AutoCAD (using white background) upon opening the DXF.
I'm not even sure if subsequent plotting is a problem at all.
were generated from (using our conversion software). Maybe this helps
    explain and analyze the problem?
