i am saying this from memory but its actually pretty easy on ADT3.3
you first have to add a plotter....under options, plotting tab, use the
wizrad>my computer>and find "raster file format" some where and there should
be a "tiff exporter 6.0" something
    think i use (uncompressed)

you can than set the resolution by pixels...i think 8000x8000 is max or was
it 4000x4000...can't remember....you can also choose to set it color or
    mono.

when you have the plotter setup....it becomes one of the plotting choices
and it should create tif format when you choose it.

oh, and base on what the quality of the tif you need, adjust the resolution
    setting as need be.

    hope it helped

IF you don't care for the TIFF driver found under Raster File Plotters in Plottermanager command in AutocAD, consider buying a TIFF Windows printer like:

I make my Tiff from plot file (.plt)
You can download a free software from KIP.
It convert plt file to tiff file. The con. It doesn't make a color Tiff.

ummm....why do people use other shareware when it can be done just as easily
    in the program itself?

You can use Any DWG to Image Converter Free trial version. Any DWG to Image Converter allows you to convert DWG and DXF files to TIF (TIFF), JPG (JPEG), BMP, GIF, PNG, TGA, PCX, WMF and EMF without the need of AutoCAD.

    Please visit http://anydwg.com/dwg2img/ for details.

sometimes, some other tools are much faster then the program itself.....
Try to create a large highres color TIF in ACAD.....this take very long.
Then try the way to create a PLT and use PLT2TIF to create a highres TIF
    file.
    You will see the difference.
