    Hi,

I am a student of Architecture and I am doing a project in the center of
Amsterdam (Valkenburgerstraat area). Does anybody knows where I can find a
detailed Autocad drawing of this zone?

    Thanks

Google earth will make you a foto that you can take into AutoCAD , ---
this could be perfect for digitizing the building volumes , offcaurse
this is not a 3D image but maby you realy don't need that.

    Thanks!
It's a good idea to use Google Earth. The problem is that my OS doesn't
support this program and I can not use it so far... BTW, I don't know if
Google Earth has the same pictures that Google Maps; I've been serching the
center of Amsterdam in GM and this area is not digitalized :-( It's a pitty.

    Hi

Sad as there are mountains of simple Lisp programs, where you "draw" as
    with houses.
Where you point for point stretch a 3D solid model of the type standard
house you can even change type of, while you draw away -------- ok it
will only leave you with a very rough model of the spaces but these can
later be updated if you keep a record. Anyway it is allready an option
to generate 3D maps of saturn's moons so within years we shuld proberly
have the Google Earth as Google 3Dearth and your trouble would then be,
that now there are no exchouses and you have to start projecting your
    designs.

Isn't it sad that you have to ansver that your system can't meaneage
windows applications ? Now why is it you havn't got access to both
,isn't technology something that you must be able to handle flexible.
How will you solve this problem ?

Well, it's hard for me to understand what you wrote... but I will try to
    reply to what I understood:

-My OS cannot handle GoogleEarth right now, not Windows programs. No
problem, I will get another computer.
-I cannot draw anything because there are no pictures of the zone I am
looking for, at any scale. Ok, it's the center of Amsterdam, an important
city, but as you may know, Google is an american company and they have more
american cities than european ones. Still searching...

My OS cannot handle GoogleEarth right now, not Windows programs.

There's always images.google.com. But if you need a small area in detail it
probably won't help. And if you need a large area you probably don't want to
    put in the labor.

And it isn't that "computer X can't handle OS Y." The OS is designed for
certain computers. It's like saying snakes can't handle jet fighters. Well,
DUH when you go and put controls in a jet fighter that absolutely require
hands and feet. Dragons can't handle the piano. I'd say put the blame where
it is due, but no, there is no actual _blame_ involved.
Throwing money at a problem is always a good solution. Hopefully it will be
    your money.
Amsterdam is one of the first non USA places that Keyhole had data for. My
connection's balky right now but it appears that yes, the Amsterdam data has
disappeared. It pisses me off when the lose data.
Why do you suppose it is that the Europeans are so unwilling to cooperate
    with them?

Seriously, not this "poor us, Americans are bad blah blah blah" racist crap
again. Is it years of socialism that make people feel so self important and
feel the world owes them something. Or are we focusing on the "company"
aspect here? That seems to be all the trend. Any business that isn't a sole
proprietorship is the evil that stalks us all.

    Thanks,

Yes, I've downloaded it weeks ago (and in its different versions). It's good
to get the whole city (a very big file), but it is not detailed to focuse on
the area I need. However it's very useful.

Nope, connection working much better today. There's still good Amsterdam
data. But it's only about a quarter of the city center so it mayn't be what
the OP needs. But then, I'm curious how the OP knows what data exists for a
    program it can't run?
